Katherine Schober is a German-English genealogy speaker, author, and translator, specializing in the old German handwriting. In addition to translating letters, diaries, church records, vital records, and more, she is also the author of The Magic of German Church Records and Tips and Tricks of Deciphering German Handwriting, as well as the creator of the online course Reading the Old German Handwriting.
Although Katherine now lives in her hometown of St. Louis, she previously spent four years in Salzburg, Austria, teaching English and translating German in the beautiful foothills of the Alps. She enjoys getting to go back to Austria once a year to visit her husband’s family and to go hiking or skiing in those beautiful mountains!
At the IGGP Conference in July, Katherine will be presenting on “A Wealth of Websites: Deciphering the German Script Made Easy”, as well as “I Don’t Speak German: Transcription and Translation Tricks for German Records” and “All You Need to Know About Names in German Records”. Hope to see you there!
